TIBETAN TIGER TEMPLE
Ceramic, goldleaf. 16"x 25"x 16".1997

The temple series was born from the sadness of a second miscarriage. I dedicated the first temple to the spirits of all lost children.

The pieces drew heavily upon my Far Eastern upbringing and many of my childhood haunts. Those visual memories were able to be translated into clay.

The first temple led to a series of temples. Each with its own unique personality.

The colours were drawn from the old decaying walls and painted facades found in many old Chinese and Macanese villages.

The Gods which protect these temples are influenced by Buddha, Thai temple gods, and Quan Yin. All of which were surrounding me as a child.

The Temple Series consists of :

FOSSIL TEMPLE
SEA GREEN TEMPLE
CELESTIAL GREEN TEMPLE
SPRING TEMPLE
CELESTIAL BLUE TEMPLE
TIBETAN TIGER TEMPLE
